Lewis & Clark Special Event Station
Between July 9th and 23rd, the Capital City Amateur Radio club will commerate the 200th Anniversary of Lewis & Clark discovering the portion of Montana which is now the only county in the United States named for both Lewis & Clark.
Listen 25kHz (or thereabouts) down from the top of each band for stations within Lewis and Clark County signing with their call sign followed by the suffix /LC. For example, in the 20M phone band, we will be working at approximately 14.325 Mhz. Stations will also be active on PSK31 and possibly other digital modes so also listen in the appropriate band segments for each mode you are interested in.
During certain periods during this period, our club station will be mobile from certain locations within the county signing as K7L/C. We will update this page as the schedule firms up.
After you have made one or more contacts with a station within Lewis & Clark county, you can either QSL them directly (if the operator so indicates), or if you'd like a commemorative certificate, send a large 9x12 SASE to AC7DE, 50 11th Avenue, Helena, MT 59601. Please include the callsigns of the stations worked (including possibly K7L/C) and the band segment, mode, and time in UTC. The certificate will carry endorsements for each station worked on each band and mode, so feel free to work as many as you can during the period. Requests for Certificates must be sent no later than 30 days after the event, so that we can get the correct quantity printed and mailed.
Notes for stations within Lewis & Clark County:
If you are within Lewis & Clark county, you may operate with the /LC suffix, provided you provide us with logs of the contacts as listed below. Please listen before transmitting and if another /LC station is active 25kc down from the top of the band segment, either move up or down far enough to prevent interference to the already active station (or even better, try a different band). If you are operating at the assigned frequency, and the K7L/C club station begins operation, you may be asked to move up or down a bit so the K7L/C station can be right on the publicised frequency.
If your station is not located within Lewis & Clark county please do not operate with the /LC suffix. By "located" I mean the transmitter location. Feel free to operate mobile within the county, but if you live within the county and are mobile outside it, please don't use the /LC suffix. In addition, if you live outside the county, please feel free to operate mobile within the county with the /LC suffix, or participate from the club station.
Please keep accurate logs of each contact made with the /LC suffix. Be sure to log Band and Mode, along with UTC time for each contact.
After the event, please provide logs to Forrest, AC7DE as soon as possible. Forrest's email address is forrestc@imach.com. Forrest would prefer the logs to be in Cabrillo format to ease generation of the certificates. If at all possible, please provide them in this format. If this isn't possible, please do your best to provide them in some sort of electronic-readable format.
Like I stated above, I am still working out the exact times and locations for the club station to operate from. I will post additional information here as I get it.
